Did you know, the first Post Office in India was established in Bombay in the year 1688 by East India Company? Scinde Dawk was the first East India company stamp that was issued on 1st July 1852. In October 1854, the first British India stamps were produced in Calcutta featuring a portrait of Queen Victoria without perforation or gum and also British India stamps issued in 1865 after the revolt of 1857 featured a head of an elephant as the watermark.
